Quilts

My first quilt was an experiment for a competition in the Idea's magazine. What for me was a totally inspired and original idea - taking all the old T-shirts from places I've visited and turning them into a quilt - I later realised was not so original after all. Being very behind the times with these sorts of things, I was watching one of the Twilight movies a couple of months after making this creation, and realised there's a scene in which Bella's mother gives her this sentimental gift of... a quilt made from T-shirts bought in places they visited together. Sigh.

Anyway, after that first 3/4 bed size attempt, I have now ventured into cot size quilts for babies. Purely out of a moment of frustration trying to work with stretchy material layered with vilene, puffy batting and lining, and having it slip consistently in the wrong direction, I sort of lost the plot and just started stitching madly, here there and everywhere. This was most fortuitous, as it turns out, because I stumbled upon a fairly interesting technique, which I suppose in the end is what makes quilting what it is.
